On May 30th, the production of the fashion show took place in the auditorium with models walking down the runway hitting different poses to show off clothes produced by the fashion majors. Throughout the year, fashion majors worked to create and sew garments while models attended practices to improve their walks and poses. Both groups got to showcase their creativity, hard work, and dedication over the past three months in a single night. The process of designing garments, model auditions, full length practices, hair and makeup tryouts, all had been leading up to this night.
The fashion show is heavily student-led, even down to picking the theme of the show; a role that is reserved for senior fashion students. In the past themes have been Circus, Illusions, and Mythology. The show’s theme is a secret until the event begins. Students are responsible for driving this major project that showcases their ingenuity and provides a stepping stone to any students furthering their professional careers in the arts. Many are dedicated to pulling off this event by many helping with modeling, makeup, and even coaching.
Zero Castaneda is a junior co-coach this year and emphasized her role in trying to make sure everything stays on schedule.
“So as a coach we definitely have to put in some discipline to make sure people aren’t just not taking this seriously,” Castaneda said. “We teach them how to walk, pacing, timing, how to pose, different aspects of the show.”
Being a co-coach is a role primarily reserved for junior and senior fashion students. There are only a select amount of practices within the year and these coaches make sure everyone fulfills their part for the show. A lot of time is being spent to pull off this major production with rehearsals lasting from 2:45 to as late as 5:00 PM.

Some students involved with the show are juggling multiple roles, such as sophomore student Sydney Majak. She shared insight about the progress of the show.
“It’s funny knowing that you’re making your own dress,” Majak continues, ”In class, I’ll hold up what’s left of my dress and I’ll be like this is gonna fit me great.”
Sydney is both a fashion major and model in the show. Both of these roles are incredibly vital as both have their own focus on showcasing their creativity. However, having both responsibilities can be incredibly tiring.
With May 30th being the date of the event, there’s an even greater emphasis on having an organized final production. Students had to balance school, modeling, designing, and even internships.
Despite the pressure, excitement around the event was buzzing.
“So knowing that as a model and as a fashion student, I’m actually going to have to wear my piece in three weeks, and I’m going to have to have it done as soon as spring break is over, that’s crazy stressful,” Majak finishes her thought with, “But also it’s really exciting.”
